The Wellness Councils of America reported a $24 return
for every $1 spent on a company wellness program for
small businesses.

According to a 2005 survey by The Art of Health
Promotion, companies who instituted employee health
and wellness programs realized a 30% reduction in
medical and absenteeism costs in less than four years.
What has held you back from starting an employee wellness
program?

When people think of employee wellness programs they think of many
different scenarios such as
  • hiring a massage therapist for chair massage
  • a walking program during lunch hours  
  • some companies build fitness centers on their property  
  • others have periodic health screenings for blood pressure and
    cholesterol

Some of these ideas are good but also have their drawbacks:

  • Privacy issues make it easy to be hesitant.

  • No one wants to be stalked at work to find out his or her BMI.

  • Scheduling weekly weigh-ins for an obesity prevention program is
    probably out of the question.

  • Do your employees really want to hang around a health fair?.  
During unsettling economic times, you don't
